OS X makes it easy to switch audio or video files to different formats within Finder.

Transcoding Audio

If you have an AIFF or WAV audio file that you’d like to convert to iTunes’ native MP4 audio format, which usually has the m4a file extension, just right-click it and select Encode Selected Audio Files (you might have to click ServicesEncode Selected Audio files). Then select the format you’d like from the Encoder drop-down list.
