Using Finder’s Side Pane

Connecting to a shared folder or other resource should be as easy as looking under the Shared heading in the side pane of Finder, clicking the entry for the computer in question, and then clicking the Connect As button and typing the other computer’s login credentials when prompted.

Unfortunately, things sometimes don’t run as smoothly as this, and it can be hard to diagnose why. The computer simply might not appear in the list.
