Using Tables to Manage Page Layouts

Tabs, extra spacing, indents, and outdents are not supported format styles on the Web. One way to incorporate this type of page layout functionality is by using tables in forms, pages, or subforms. Tables allow designers to position information, align elements such as graphics, text, and fields, and simulate effects not supported on the Web, such as picture text wrap.

Five types of tables are available: Basic, Tabbed, Animated, Caption, and Programmed. Animated is the only one that does not translate to the Web. Programmed tables display different rows of the table based on a formula that requires interaction with the server. Tabbed and Caption tables have two disadvantages when being used on the Web:
