Setting Up Document Locking

Document locking enables users with Author access or higher to lock documents within a database. Locking a document gives exclusive rights to the person who has locked the document to modify it. Other users with the same rights cannot modify the document even if they are working on another replica on the same local area network. Because of this, document locking prevents editing of documents and replication conflicts.

Database managers cannot edit a locked document, but they can unlock previously locked documents.
