Question Handling Strategies

The following bulleted list outlines some basic question handling strategies that we have found to be helpful:

  • Read each question slowly and carefully.

  • Based on the number of questions on the tests and the 1 hour allotted to each test, you have about 1.34 minutes per question. Don't rush, but don't dilly-dally, either.

  • Read each question twice before choosing an answer.

  • If you are uncertain of the answer, pick the choice you think is the best answer and mark the question for review. Often, you first instinct is correct.

  • Try to keep track of questions that you are uncertain about and look for other questions on the test that might help you determine the answer.
