Features of Fibre Channel

Fibre channel technology provides a high-speed infrastructure that blends device communication with LAN communication.

It can be used as a new infrastructure for traditional low-level, device-based communications such as the Small Computer System Interface (SCSI), the Intelligent Peripheral Interface (IPI), and the High-Performance Parallel Interface (HIPPI). It also supports the transport of LAN frames carrying high-level protocol data.
