LANE Version 2
At the time of writing, LANE version 1 is implemented in products. However, the ATM Forum has published version 2 standards for clients and servers.
Version 2 adds some desirable features to LANE, including
The introduction of Quality of Service for data connections
The capability to set up multiple instances of each server type
An improved method of handling multicast traffic
A LANE client can register the acceptable service categories that it is willing to accept in incoming calls. A caller can set up multiple connections to a destination with each call carrying traffic for a different service category. For example, separate calls could be used for voice, video, and bulk data.
