Standards Body Overview
Several important standards groups have been mentioned in this chapter:
IEEE publishes standards related to electronic technologies. Its 802 committee has produced a series of standards documents that describe LAN protocols and LAN physical transmission mechanisms.
ANSI is a coordinating organization for dozens of specialized U.S. standards organizations and technical committees.
ISO publishes standards that cover a wide range of interests. International data communications standards are organized under its ISO OSI endeavor.
The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is responsible for TCP/IP standards. The SNMP standards are maintained and published by the IETF.
