Chapter 10. Weekly Living Clojure Training Plan

You have all the skills and tools you need to embark on the Living Clojure Training Program. This chapter provides a seven-week plan designed not only to get you more and more comfortable in the language, but also to get you involved with the great feedback and resources that the community has to offer.

How Do I Use This Training Plan?

The structured training plan spans seven weeks. Each week has five days of exercises to complete, which are designed to fit into your schedule. They should only take you about a half an hour to an hour a day. The important part is to practice your Clojure skills regularly over a period of time. This is what is going to get your brain comfortable thinking in a new way. The first three weeks will be focused on solving problems with the 4Clojure website. The next three weeks will then go on to solve project-based programming exercises inspired by Lewis Carroll and Alice in Wonderland. The last week is devoted to creating your own Clojure web app and hosting it on Heroku. For each week, there will be step-by-step instructions to get you started.

I know it is tempting to skip ahead and plow right through everything as fast as you can. You can certainly do it. But I suggest that you try sticking to the plan and don’t do too much at once.

What If I Miss a Day or Two?

Don’t worry about it too much. This is not a race. If you miss a day or two, just pick up where you left off and continue from there.
