This industry is still relatively young (even most of my family doesn’t really understand what I do—other than follow bands all over the globe on their quest to make money). We are now coming into a far more professional age, where the abuses of old aren’t tolerated. If you’ve made it into the industry, try not to mess it up because you don’t know how many chances you’ll get. It’s a lot of hard work, but look on the bright side: You’re getting to see the world at someone else’s expense.

Your personality is your most key attribute in any touring environment. Just be yourself; otherwise you’ll find it hard to get along—take your own space when you need it. Be aware that you are living out of each other’s pockets and that touring on a bus ...
