Synopsis

mplayer [options] video_files...

The mplayer command plays video files in many formats: MPEG, AVI, MOV, and more:

$ mplayer myfile.avi

While the video is playing, press the space bar to pause and resume, the cursor keys to jump forward and backward in time, and Q to quit. The program has dozens of options on its manpage, and you can learn more at http://www.mplayerhq.hu.
