The mainframe environment offers a number of opportunities to the system administrator for becoming more efficient in dealing with numerous Linux images, thus lowering operational costs.

16.3.1. System layout

In a Linux-on-the-mainframe environment, the system administrator might have to manage hundreds of Linux images. One way of making this multitude manageable is to curb the variety by using a small number of standard images, as ISPCompany does.
