Finally, Finally, Before You Get Started

The bootable first CD or DVD is the last thing you need before proceeding to install Linux. Fedora comes on the bootable DVD that comes with this book. If your computer doesn’t have a DVD-ROM drive, see Appendix B for various other options.

If you have to make changes in your BIOS, be sure that you save them before you exit! It’s easy to forget and end up wondering why the machine isn’t doing what you told it to do.

Now, before you go any farther, there’s one more thing I want you to do: Go to the following Fedora sites and bookmark them so you can easily go and reference them if you need help:

The Fedora Project Wiki: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/

A wiki is a Web page (or collection of Web pages) maintained collectively, where anyone can make changes (or a group of designated people can, depending on how the wiki is set up). Wikis are becoming popular for generating community-based support sites because anyone with the desire to contribute can pitch in with a minimum of hassle.

The Fedora Forum: www.fedoraforum.org
Fedora News: www.fedoranews.org
The Unofficial Fedora FAQ: www.fedorafaq.org
LinuxQuestions.org: linuxquestions.org
