Scheduling

Backups can be scheduled on Linux and Windows. The scheduler service on Windows and the cron program on Linux support scheduling of jobs to run at particular times. Both dump and ntbackup can be run from the command line, so both are easily scripted and the resulting scripts can be scheduled. Rather than have a human being present for the backup, Elsolutions will purchase a sufficient number of DVD-RAM drives to dedicate one per nightly backup. In addition, DVD-RAM drives will be available for weekly backups. The DVD-RAM media will be stored on site. Periodically, a complete set of backups will be stored off site. Since Elsolutions is a small company, security of the backup media will be covered by storage in a locked room.
