Summary

We described the use of a general purpose LDAP directory in integrating services and personnel in a company such as Elsolutions. We decided to defer implementing an LDAP-based security domain until the open-source supporting technology matures enough to support both Windows XP and Red Hat Linux 7.1. Meanwhile, Elsolutions will begin a fledgling yellow pages service by publishing services such as the locations of its RDBMS in the directory such that its applications must consult the directory to find the service. A Red Hat Linux 7.1 OpenLDAP directory service will host the directory.
