Windows Internet Printing

Windows XP and Windows 2000 allow two types of network print sharing: by UNC name or by URL. The latter is called Internet printing. The URL is of the form http://ServerName/Printers/ShareName/Printer. The URL identifies a Windows IIS service that uses an HTTP print server to access a print queue on the server.

Figure 14-23 depicts Internet printing on Windows 2000, but Windows XP IIP is functionally the same.
