Adding a Windows XP Networked Printer

It is slightly easier to add a normal SMB-networked printer to Windows than it is to add a local printer. One reason is that having an actual physical printer is optional. Another reason is that the print server may automatically load the device driver onto your machine. You may add a Linux Samba printer using the same dialog, but you previously needed to supply the device driver locally, or somebody had to script a download solution on the Linux machine for Windows clients—not difficult. Note that the latest 2.0.7 version of Samba in Red Hat Linux 7.1 supports downloadable printer drivers.
