Windows TCP/IP Print Service
The port discussion leads us to the TCP/IP print service on Windows. Windows XP and Windows 2000 include a TCP/IP print service that supports the Unix line printer request (lpr) printer protocol over a TCP port. The lpr protocol originated as a standard for sending print jobs from clients to servers, each running under Berkley UNIX. The lpr standard is formalized in IETF RFC 1179.
A Windows XP or Windows 2000 Line Printer Daemon (lpd) service accepts a print stream from an lpr client and submits it to the local spooler.
