General Print Processing
The aggregate of application, operating system, and printer subsystem or driver communicates with a given printer through a printer-specific native data and control language. Some of these languages are shown in Table 14-1. Some printers accept multiple print languages. Some PostScript laser printers may also accept Printer Control Language (PCL) and plain ASCII text. There are PostScript version issues, such as PostScript 1, PostScript 2, and third-party PostScript implementations.
