NFS

NFS has a UNIX-style file system semantics (permissions and single root), and almost every UNIX vendor supports NFS. NFS exports directories to other systems. Exporting a directory is analogous to sharing a folder. Mounting an NFS volume is analogous to mapping a drive. To show how similar all three network file systems are, Table 13-1 lists common actions:
