Summary

We asserted that Elsolutions' security stance would deny access to users and services where that access isn't explicitly needed. This is the old “need-to-know” bureaucracy security stance. We divided security issues into two kinds: host security and network security. Host security deals with securing a single computer as if it were disconnected. Issues of network security arise when single computers are connected in an IP network. We surveyed each as it would apply to Elsolutions. Finally, we mentioned several integrity-checking utilities that are useful for Elsolutions' systems administrators to carry out security checks.
