In this chapter we will review the TCP/IP and go through setup procedures for Linux and Windows. We will install and configure routing, Domain Name System (DNS), and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). Throughout, we will discuss troubleshooting techniques.

We will also set up our network, choosing our components. In some cases the choice of a component (Windows versus Linux) is arbitrary. In those cases, we will show how to set up the service on both systems. When we are finished with this chapter, we should have a fully functioning network with access to the Internet for both Windows and Linux clients. ...
