Elsolutions is a small company with a small cadre of IS administrators that carry out many duties. A given administrator may need to be the systems manager, network administrator, security administrator, database administrator, telecommunications administrator, email administrator, Webmaster, in addition to other duties as required.
This chapter covers some of Windows XP and Linux administrative tools and commands used at Elsolutions. Some tools are character mode commands. Others are GUI applications.
