Summary
We saw that Java is a prime catalyst in promoting both portability and interoperability between applications on Windows XP and Red Hat Linux 7.1 for Elsolutions. The standardized, cross-platform nature of Java has produced tremendous industry focus, resulting in an astounding number of APIs and libraries being available for Java. Tools are another part of the picture. These enable enterprise-sized applications to be developed and deployed. XML is becoming as hot as Java. The marriage of the two populate a powerful interoperability arsenal with interoperation technologies, such as SOAP, that bind services to clients no matter where they sit on Windows or Linux.
