8.6. Conclusion
I hope I have demonstrated the flexibility of grep, which is a very powerful and popular tool. Like many of the UNIX tools, it has been ported to DOS. If you want to search for a string or pattern quickly through files then grep ’s your buddy, it’s as simple as that. Grep is an important tool in shell programming, as we’ll discover later on in the book, when used with other UNIX tools and in variable substitutions.
