5.12. Conclusion

Throughout this book you will encounter redirections, because it is an important part of the shell that allows you to get input into commands. Separating the errors, if any, to a separate destination enables you to track down problems fast.

One area we have not covered is the use of the shell’s file descriptors (3–9). To be able to use these file descriptors you really need to use iteration methods, and we’ll look again at file descriptors when we deal with iteration.
