Working in the Shell
Every Linux/Solaris system includes at least one command-line interpreter that enables you to interact with the OS. This interpreter is known as a shell. It is an appropriate moniker because the shell’s purpose is to act as a layer that shields you from having to know the internal workings of the OS.
