Week 1: Prepare Your LinkedIn Presence

As a new user, you’ll want to collect some information before embarking on creating a LinkedIn profile. If you’ve been on LinkedIn for some time, it won’t hurt to read this section and gather together the information and documents that can help you optimize your existing profile.

Monday: Find Your Résumé

Those of you with an “incomplete profile” (according to LinkedIn) may have noticed a link on the right side of the Edit Profile page that gives you the option to import your résumé. Don’t do it! I have worked one on one with hundreds of people and not a single person had any luck uploading their résumé using this tool.
