FOREWORD

The digital developments of the last twenty years have impacted every single aspect of photography, from how we plan, shoot, process, and output images to how we store, view, share, and experience images. The current digital cameras, computers, software, and printers enhance and expand our control, creativity, and image quality. If you’ve been involved with digital photography for over twenty years or less than twenty days, you and I have something in common: we love seeing the world through a viewfinder. When we have a camera in our hands we feel more alive and aware. We enjoy noticing how light plays through winter tree branches or stopping to photograph a rusty detail that passersby hurriedly overlook.

Photography allows us to discover large and small worlds and it is my pleasure to introduce you to fellow photographic explorer, artist, and digital aficionado Nat Coalson. Nat has been working with digital tools for twenty years and has been a professional photographer since 2002. When he isn’t working on his landscape photography, Nat is busy teaching large and small photography classes and workshops. Simply said, Nat is an authentic practicing artist who has the rare talent to break down the complex into manageable information.
