11 Color temperature

 

 

 

If the color quality of the light and the color characteristics of the film or TV system do not match, the final picture will have a pronounced color bias. Here we shall discuss the theoretical and practical problems involved.

Identifying color

There are several ways of precisely identifying any color.

You can make a list of the proportions of each spectral hue it contains. But this is a laborious process, and gives no sense of the subjective color effect.

You can draw a graph showing their relative amounts as in Figure 12.1. With practice, this can be a very useful guide.
