For so long when you start a business, it's just about survival. Living day to day. Paying the mortgage. Paying off the loan on the car.

You may feel like you are making no progress. But you are.

Even if the only thing you are progressing is your level of experience.

But experience doesn't pay the mortgage.

It does when you get enough of it. Your ability to make fast and correct decisions is sped up.

So instead of charging time for money, using an hourly rate, I charge for the job.

I'll give you an example. An office needs a computer fixing. Engineer #1 charges £60 an hour and takes three hours. £180.

Engineer #2 fixes it in 10 minutes and charges £110.

Some businesses would feel that the 10-minute solution is bloody expensive ...
