Being a Team Builder

As we have already discussed, in all aspects of life success is built on the efforts of a team. One of the best reputations you can develop as a leader is someone who is a team builder. Team builders care about their colleagues' success. Team builders look for ways to help others grow and develop. They make sure that other people are recognized for their contributions. They talk others up and always have a constructive word that buoys people's spirits. Now trust me, those who know me will tell you that I am far from a Pollyanna personality! I am as grumpy and moody as the next guy! But my interactions with people are constructive and are focused on positive outcomes. Granted, there will always be a handful of people who, no matter how you act, will be jackasses (sorry . . . I couldn't think of a more politically correct term!). My experience suggests that this group is in the minority. Most people react positively to team players and team builders. They appreciate the support and recognition you provide and look forward to opportunities to work with you.
