Chapter Fourteen. Photoshop Adjustment Layers

Using adjustment layers is a flexible method to make adjustments in Photoshop without permanently altering the pixels in the image. The color and tonal modifications are contained within the adjustment layer, which acts as a filter through which the underlying image layers are displayed. The benefit to using adjustment layers is that the editing is not permanent until you actually flatten all the layers within the image. You can even save the image with all its adjustment layers as a working Photoshop document (PSD), return to it, reopen it, and all the changes made to the adjustment layers will still be there for you to alter, remove, or modify.
