“I understand, Rick, but the lockdown is in place for a reason,” said Dennis as he signed reports and checked screens. The Control Center was crowded with personnel, but Rick was weaving through the tight quarters, following the commander from station to station.
“He’s less than three kilometers away. I could get to him in less than ten minutes in one of the rovers,” said Rick. “He’s only got about an hour’s worth of battery power left.”
“The storm’s winds won’t subside for at least another eight hours,” said Dennis. “Command won’t authorize anyone going outside until the wind speeds reduce substantially.”
