XQLXML Query Language provides database-like query facilities for accessing web documents.

Status

XQL is currently maintained by Jonathan Robie; complete information is available at http://www.ibiblio.org/xql/. The most recent specification was submitted to the W3C XSL working group in 1998 as http://www.w3.org/TandS/QL/QL98/pp/xql.html. That specification is still used today with only minor updates.

Description

XQL is a query language that uses XML as a data model and is similar to XSL Patterns. XQL expressions are easy to parse and type, and can be used in a variety of software environments: as part of a URL, in XML or HTML attributes, in programming language strings, etc.
