Acknowledgments

I’ve always liked the fact that the acknowledgments in technical books are typically in the front. That way, when you read the remainder of the book, you already know who to thank for it, unlike in a movie. So, without further ado:

John Osborn at O’Reilly was instrumental in getting this process organized and off the ground and provided very welcome guidance and feedback during the initial stages of writing this book. My sincere appreciation also is extended to Robbie Allen, who spent many (painstaking, I’m sure) hours combing through the manuscript and providing very helpful, precise feedback. Robbie is an excellent editor, author, and tech head simultaneously, and this book is all the better for his involvement in its creation and production.

Special thanks are due to Jacob Morgan for sharing his expertise in .NET services and his contribution to Chapter 9.

Errors and shortcomings were dutifully found by the technical review team, which consisted of IT professionals Abigail Cooke, Dan Green, Rick Kingslan, Eddie Phillips, and Mitch Tulloch.

Of course, my family is also to thank: particularly my significant other, Lisa, who patiently accepted the insufficient answer of “not yet” repeatedly to her reasonable question of “Aren’t you done with that book?” My parents also deserve credit as well; thanks for your support throughout the project.

Finally, I’d like to dedicate this book to my grandfather, John Broughton. He has taught me much in life, but perhaps most significantly, he showed me the value of hard work and his confidence in my ability to achieve what I dreamed. My success today is in no small part directly associated with his love and encouragement. Thank you, Papa, for all that you have done for me.
