Summary

Performance charts can be displayed using the vSphere Client directly connected to an ESXi host directly, to a vCenter Server, or by using the vSphere Web Client. Overview performance charts display the performance statistics that are most useful for quickly diagnosing problems and monitoring performance. An advanced performance chart provides a more detailed graphical display for an object's statistical data. The esxtop and resxtop commands enable command-line monitoring for real-time ESXi host resource usage for each of the core four resources: CPU, memory, network, and disk. The esxtop and resxtop utilities are available in interactive, batch, and replay modes.
