Configuring access to iSCSI storage

iSCSI, or SCSI over the Internet, is one of the top contenders for a place in an enterprise data center. The main benefit of iSCSI is that there is no need for an investment to support special switching hardware for you to enable access to the storage. Hence, all you need to make sure is that the iSCSI array is in a network that is reachable to a vmkernel interface on the ESXi host.

Design Tip: It is recommended to maintain separate switches for iSCSI traffic in a data center environment.
