Summary

This chapter covered vSphere networking in detail. We covered the need for virtual switches in a vSphere environment and the differences between standard and distributed virtual switches. You learned how to create and manage the virtual switches (standard or distributed). From there you learned more about virtual switch security settings, traffic shaping, load balancing, and failover. Finally, you learned about the network monitoring methods and bandwidth management using network I/O control.

We are now all set to configure other services such as iSCSI or NFS, which will be discussed in the next chapter.
