IaaS – architecture and component deep dive

vRA IaaS is made up of several components, and it is important to understand how they all relate to each other. The following conceptual diagram will help to illustrate what is being installed on the Windows Server:

  • Model Manager Web (a.k.a. repository)
    • IaaS Web UI
    • WAPI
    • Reports
  • Model Manager Data
  • MSSQL database
  • Manager Service
  • DEM (orchestrator and worker)
  • Proxy agents
  • Management agents (starting with vRA 6.2)
