Chapter 2. Environment Setup

In this chapter, we will set up our IDE in order to ease the use of Vaadin and create new projects using this framework.

In particular, we will see how to:

  • Download and install the right distribution of the IDE
  • Check that your currently installed IDE is the right distribution
  • Install the Vaadin plugin in your IDE
  • Create a new Vaadin project using our now enhanced IDE

The first section is dedicated to Eclipse from the Eclipse Foundation, the second to the NetBeans from Oracle (formerly Sun).
