Sprite Kit is a 2D graphics and animation framework, and we will be using it to create our game called Pencil Adventure for this book. Sprite Kit renders each frame with content while optimizing the rendering, animation and memory in the frame.

Sprite Kit provides complete rendering and an infrastructure that handles all of the low-level processes within OpenGL, allowing you to focus on creating great gameplay and design. For these reasons we have chosen to use Sprite Kit as the primary framework for the development of Pencil Adventure.
