When looking to automate a given piece of your infrastructure, it makes perfect sense to go look at the Forge to see if someone else has made a module to configure the application or infrastructure piece you are looking to automate.
Even if the module does not support your operating system, concentrating work on extending an existing module to support more operating systems or features betters the community as a whole.
