Using sharpen effects

Sharpening your image is always an important part of the post-processing process, and especially before sending something off to be printed. Depending on your settings with your Digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera, your camera might be doing some sharpening in the processing it does in-camera, or it might be doing very little. Depending on what your subject is, you might want to have the final print as tack sharp as it can be, and applying some sharpening to the photo before it's printed is probably a good idea. There are three types of sharpening effects you can apply to your images:

  • Sharpen
  • Edges
  • Unsharp
