Loading  a snapshot fact table

As explained, a snapshot fact table keeps pictures of the current status of a business process. Let's suppose that we keep track of the status of orders. The orders may be waiting, ready to deliver, delayed, cancelled, and so on. Now we want to reflect this information in a fact table.

The main process to load the snapshot fact table doesn't differ from the one for a cumulative fact table. You have to look at the grain, get the information from the source, and obtain the surrogate keys that will be used in the fact. The main difference is at the time of saving the data into the fact table, as explained in the following section.
