Using the copied rows as parameters of a Job or Transformation

Recall the Job that we created in the Using Named Parameters section at the beginning of the chapter. We had a Transformation with named parameters and you learned how to pass the parameters both with fixed values or using Kettle variables. There is one more way to pass named parameters to a Transformation or Job. We can do it by copying rows. To show how to do this, we will recreate the same example but this time, we will use this new method.

First, we will create a transformation that builds a dataset with the values for the parameters:

  1. Create a Transformation.
  2. Using the steps of your choice, create a dataset with the following structure—the image shows sample data:
