Creating the database and configuring the environment

In order to run the tutorials in the chapter, you will need to do some preparatory tasks.

In the first place, you will need the Jigsaw operational database installed and populated:

  1. From the book's website, download the material for the chapter.
  2. In the bundle material, you will find a folder with some SQL scripts. Use them to create and populate the operational database as well as to create the data mart tables.
There are two versions of the scripts—one for PostgreSQL and one for MySQL. Use the one that fits your environment or adapt them to your own engine.

As a final task, open Spoon and perform the following:

  1. Create a database connection named js that connects PDI with the Jigsaw ...
