A very common requirement is to get the system date or some date or time relative to it. PDI offers a couple of ways to do this. The simplest way to get system information relative to the current date is to use the Get System Info step. The step offers a long list of options with most of them related to the present date. Some examples are system date (fixed), Yesterday 00:00:00, Last day of this month 23:59:59, and First day of this quarter 00:00:00, among others.
The step doesn't provide any formatting options, so when you use this step to add date system information to your dataset, the field is added with the default date format, as you can see in the following screenshot:
