Defining and using named parameters

PDI Transformations can receive parameters, which makes Transformations more flexible and reusable. The parameters that you provide to Transformations are called named parameters. Inside a Transformation, a named parameter can be used exactly as a Kettle variable, and its scope is local to the Transformation.

Why would you define a named parameter over another kind of variable? The main advantage of a named parameter is that, at the time you define them, you can set default values. Doing this way, you are not forced to provide values when running the Transformation.
