Introducing more elaborate sub-transformations

The sample sub-transformation that we developed and used is the simplest kind of sub-transformation. It has a Mapping input step, it implements some functionality, and its flow ends with a Mapping output step. This sub-transformation can be called using a Simple Mapping (sub-transformation) step exactly as we just did.

There are some other possibilities:

  • If you want the sub-transformation to simply transform the incoming stream without adding new fields, or if you are not interested in the fields added to the sub-transformation, there is no need to create a Mapping output step.
  • You can have a sub-transformation that serves to create your starting dataset. In that case, you don't need a Mapping ...
